Under the general direction of the Radiology Director the ultrasonographer practices technology founded upon theoretical knowledge and concepts using equipment and accessories and employs procedures and techniques appropriately.  The technologist acts as an agent through observation and communication to obtain pertinent information for the physician to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient and recognizes that interpretation and diagnosis are outside the scope of practice for the profession.  

Job Requirements

  1. Licensure / Certification / Registration:   Must be registered in one of the following ARRT Sonography (S); Vascular Sonography (VS); ARRT (R) with a KY License; Reg. Diag. Med. Sonography (RDMS); Reg. Diag. Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS); Reg. Vas. Tech (RVT); Cardiovascular Credentialing International: Reg. Card. Sonographer (RCS); Reg. Vasc. Specialist (RVS); Reg. Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS)
  2. Must possess BCLS
  3. Education:  Completion of an education program in Radiologic Technology and /or Ultrasonograpy. 2 year certificate, associate degree, and/or baccalaureate degree after program completion.
  4. Experience:  Successful completion of an orientation program.  Previous  experience required.
  5. Special Qualifications:  Good communication skills; computer skills helpful; ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care.   
On-call:  Will be responsible for on-call service coverage.
