The Ultrasound Technologist shall be responsible for performing ultrasound examinations as required by staff physicians, under the direction of the Radiologist and OB/GYN Physicians.
  • Observes professional ethics in maintaining confidential information concerning the financial, personal, medical or employment status of patients/families at Women’s Health Care.
  • Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for Women’s Healthcare.
  • Must report safety hazards and initiate appropriate action.
  • Must participate in safety instructional programs.
  • Reviews request for examination against patient chart and verbal.
  • Uses appropriate protocols to perform specified exams and adjust Ultrasound equipment. Uses appropriate transducer.
  • Performs exam. Monitor digital quality. Delivers memory sticks and patient information to Radiologist. Correlates and makes available patient’s clinical history to Radiologist.
  • Monitors equipment and reports malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Cleans patient equipment as required.
  • Assesses patient and reports any changes to physician.
  • Correctly identifies and labels all digital images.
  • Demonstrates concern for patient safety, comfort and privacy. Explains exam, verifies information with patient and questions patient concerning pertinent history (allergies, pregnancy, and proper consent) when pertinent.
  • Maintains order and cleanliness of work area.
  • Schedules procedures in a manner that promotes patient flow within the department.
  • Takes call as assigned.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

High school Diploma or GED required. Technical training required from an approved school for ultrasound or registry eligible. Kentucky State Licensed Ultrasound Tech and ARDMS Registered or registry eligible. Kentucky State Registered RT(R) preferred but not required. BLS Certification required.
Required skills include; organizational, customer relations, grammar/spelling, typing, the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, the ability to follow written and oral direction, and computer training.
