Person Memorial Hospital

Works with and coordinates the training of other nursing and ancillary personnel to maintain educational requirements and professional standards. Is responsible for the ongoing assessment of Quality Assurance (QA)/Infection Control (IC) activities for the long-term care center, including such activities as developing measures for assuring quality resident care and resident classification systems. Work is of a confidential nature. 

  • Assesses the resident's condition and nursing care needs; plans care, and defines appropriate nursing interventions to meet those plans of care and the physical, psychological, social and rehabilitative needs of the resident, including discharge planning.
  • Implements care plans and makes revisions accordingly.
  • Evaluates resident care outcomes.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other members of the health care team.
  • Coordinates resident care, admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Assigns selected portions of the care to LPNs and Nursing Assistants in accordance with resident needs and personnel capabilities.
  • Administers medications, treatments and therapies.
  • Communicates with residents and oversees the provision of care for their personal needs.
  • Provides resident and/or family with instruction and education relevant to resident's condition.
  • Documents nursing observations, assessments, medications, treatments and other care given.
  • Maintains skill competency, and assumes responsibility for professional development and on-going education.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education
Graduation from a Nursing Education program and unrestricted or active current NC or multistate LPN or RN licensure required. The employee must have the ability to understand, communicate and react effectively to the unique needs of adolescent, adult and geriatric residents.

Required Skills
Basic Life Support (BLS)

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

North Carolina or compact state LPN or RN License
