Job Summary

Under the supervision of an RN, technician sits at several computer consoles viewing the EKG waveforms of the patient's heartbeat.

Essential Functions

• Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.


• Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately. Identifies and corrects for artifacts.


• Reports abnormal assessment and cardiac findings or changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.


• Tests equipment for proper working order. Reports equipment problems to supervisor.
