Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital has an opportunity available for a full time Certified Central Sterile Technologist to work in our busy Surgical Department.  Surgical Services include Orthopedic, Dental, Ophthalmic, Urology, Otolaryngology, General Surgery, Podiatry, Endoscopy, and OB-GYN.  

Typical shifts are Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, based on scheduled cases for the day. Occasional on-call and after hours work may be required depending on case load and emergencies.

The successful Certified Central Sterile Technologist will demonstrate strong critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making abilities, be accountable and a team player, focused on quality and patient safety. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.  This is a high stress environment – must be flexible, adaptable and take appropriate action to meet the needs of the patients, physicians and team.

Essential Functions:

Decontaminates, washes, assembles, wraps and sterilizes instruments/trays using steam or gas sterilization in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations, AAMI, AORN, TJC and OSHA. Tests and operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturers’ instructions with emphasis on safety and compliance with current standards. Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological, and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions, current practice standards and hospital policy.

Works collaboratively with all departments in the hospital in regards to clean and sterile equipment, with an emphasis on quality, safety and meeting patient needs.

Job Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.  Graduate of a Central Sterile Technology program required.

Experience: 3-5 years of sterile processing or Surgical Technologist experience in a hospital setting preferred

Licensure: Current Central Service Processing Technology Certification required.
