Administers and directs program under direct supervision of department director to maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment and to procure or generate all utilities and their distribution systems; coordinates these activities with the other departments to insure safe and efficient operation; provides liaison with contractors, architects, engineers, and material and equipment suppliers; assists with department budgets; approves orders for equipment and supplies, as authorized; establishes and administers preventive maintenance programs; analyzes costs and work schedules; sets priorities; expedites operations and repairs; inspects buildings and utility systems to determine need of alterations and repairs; approves contracted work; accompanies appropriate State and Local authorities inspecting buildings and utility systems; responsible for department personnel; assist with safety, fire control, security, and civil-defense programs and; performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Progressive experience in maintenance of buildings are grounds. Ability to analyze, organize, delegate, to make immediate decisions regarding failure of operations, to communicate effectively with supervisors and with people in other hospital departments. Hospital engineering experience preferred
