Watertown Regional Medical Center

Exciting opportunity for a psychiatric nurse practitioner to practice at WRMC’s new 15 bed inpatient unit
located within the hospital. This full time position reports to the Program Medical Director.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Meet with Program Director/Nurse Manager and other unit staff daily to discuss Program
operations
  • Assist with the selection of age-appropriate therapeutic activities
  • Participate as a consultant to Program Director/Nurse Manager on unit policy changes
Patient Care Responsibilities:
  • Review, approve/disapprove admissions, continued stays and discharges
  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric admission assessments
  • Conduct psychiatric consultations to the hospital’s ED and other acute units
  • Round on patients, document treatment goals and plans
  • Participate in court proceedings as needed to comply with local regulations for involuntary
  • committals or releases
  • Provide coverage for consults after hours and weekends per schedule
  • Meet with family members to increase support and optimal discharge planning for patient
  • Provide follow up consultation for outpatient program
  • Intervene as needed in utilization management issues with patients and families

Job Requirements

Master of Science degree or equivalent
Fellowship trained in Psychiatry or equivalent
Advance Practice Nurse Prescriber, or eligible
CPR required
