Job Description
Responsible for implementing and supervising the day-to-day improvement of performance and operationalizing improvements in continuing care and quality improvement programs of the Emergency Services and Nursing. Creates, develops and implements improvement processes with staff at the level of which the process is preformed and assists them in operationalizing the process and offers feedback and reevaluation of the process until a solution is successful.  Develops measures/metrics to provide a threshold for success and evaluation of processes through daily chart reviews and charge capture.  Provides quarterly and annual action plans and evaluations of improvements and future needs.  Provides feedback to staff through staff meetings, memos, written and verbal communication.  Works with educators, Directors and other leaders to meet the goals of the department and maintains the metrics to determine success. Maintains the strictest confidentiality of all patient information. Promotes the concept of cooperation and develops open lines of communication with department employees, patients, visitors, and other personnel within and outside the hospital. Provides feedback to staff on appropriate documentation.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education
  • Registered nurse graduated from an accredited school of nursing with a license to practice professional nursing in state.
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare-related field required. 
  • Master's degree in nursing, healthcare administration, public health, or business administration, preferred.
  • Certification in specialty preferred.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and regulatory requirements in quality assessment, case management, resource management, hospital systems, accreditation, and licensure.
Minimum Work Experience
  1. Five years of relevant progressive work experience in clinical healthcare preferred, including direct experience in quality assessment, resource management, and case management.
Required Licenses/Certifications
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the GA Board of Nursing.
  • ACLS certified within 6 months of hire or implementation of this job description.
  • PALS and certified within 6 months of hire or implementation of this job description.
  • TNCC within 18 months of hire or implementation of this job description.
  • Telemetry certified within 6 months of hire or implementation of this job description.
  • HazMat Operations Level Responder within 18 months of hire.  
  • CPR
  • CEN preferred

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  1. Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills required for effective and creative leadership in working with all levels of the organization including physicians, committees, senior management,  as well as patients and their families. 
  2. Ability to lead, support, and build on current efforts of various groups working within the department's scope.
  3. Prior experience in hospital-wide quality resource management programs, monitoring and evaluation, experience in ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and statutes relating to health care delivery preferred.
  4. Possess good analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work with computerized clinical information systems, excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  5. Initiative, flexibility, integrity, and diplomacy.
  6. Function independently under the guidance of the Administrative Director within the broad scope of the department and organization‑wide policies, practices, and common goals.
  7. Generally refers specific problems to the Administrative Director only when the clarification of operating policies and procedures may be required.
