Raleigh General Hospital

The unit is responsible for the treatment of medical, surgical, telemetry and oncology nursing, initiating life saving procedures, providing emergency care for each patient and palliative care to our terminal patients. The 4 South delivery of care includes assessment, problem identification, pre-operative assessment, pre and post-operative care, interventions and treatments, GYN/Obstetrical Surgery and evaluation of actual, potential, or perceived physical or psychological problems. Procedures or treatment provided include, but are not limited to: Admission assessment, pre and post operative, pre and post endoscopy, pre and post dialysis, post operative care pertaining to patients receiving general, epidural, spinal, local/MAC, local with sedation, analgesic drips, heparin drips, medication, IV therapy, chemotherapy administration, maintenance of bone marrow patients, post-radiation treatment, hyperalimentation, administration of blood and blood products, pain control, pulse oximeter, Oxygen therapy, insertion of foley catheter, IV and epidural infusion pumps, blood warmer, NG tube placement tube feedings, assisting physician with insertion of chest tubes, peritoneal dialysis, abdominal and thoracic paracentesis, liver biopsy, bone marrow aspirations, application traction, insertion of Quintons, CVP lines and dressing changes, and emergency patient codes.

Job Requirements

Graduate of a School of Nursing/College Nursing Education Program

Current licensure by the West Virginia State Board of Nursing.

Pass pre-employment medication test with a score of 80% or better
