The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who utilizes the nursing process at the Radiation Therapy center. The RN facilitates patient care by making nursing assessments, formulating care plans based on  diagnoses and implementing and evaluating the plans of care.  The nurse demonstrates knowledge and support of standards of care. He \ She provides education to the patient families and staff.   He \ She performs appropriate administrative duties and participates in educational programs as assigned or approved by the Radiation Therapy center. 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

LICENSURE:   Current license to practice as registered nurse in North Carolina

EXPERIENCE:  Two years of clinical experience as an RN with a minimum of one year experience in oncology preferred but not required.  Oncology nursing certification is preferred.  BLS certification is maintained.  ACLS is to be obtained after 1 year of employment and maintained thereafter. 

SKILLS:  Skills gained from successful completion of RN education and from two years of clinical experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds.
2. Ability to see colors, see at least 1 mm squares.
3. Ability to hear and distinguish heart, lung, and bowel sounds.
4. Ability to reach overhead.
5. Ability to remain calm, continue to function effectively and develop priorities during stressful situations.
6. Ability to communicate effectively using written and verbal media.
7. Ability to move an operate equipment and carry supplies.
8. Ability to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.

The RN is required to assist in moving and lifting patients, transferring patients from wheelchair or stretcher to the treatment table or exam table. Patients may vary in size from 80 lbs to 400 lbs and may be totally dependent in all aspects of daily living.
