The resource nurse position is responsible for performing a variety of duties to provide quality nursing care to patients. This important role is responsible for “bed ahead” designation in teletracking system on assigned unit while on duty; provides clinical education to assigned staff and to coordinate admissions on assigned unit or units; for implementing specific procedures and evidence based protocols or processes on assigned units; for participating with the assigned unit manager, assistant chief nursing officer, and chief nursing officer in establishing specific goals; for expediting work flow; for ensuring compliance with clinical policies and procedures; for communicating with assigned personnel; for providing daily reports and other periodic reports as requested.  This position supervises the clinical education and throughput of the assigned unit or units.  This position does not directly supervise other workers.

Job Requirements

Graduate from a school of professional nursing, required.  Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree preferred.  Minimum one (1) year previous experience in acute care hospital setting, required. Previous supervisory/management or Charge Nurse experience preferred.  Clinical experience, competence, and expertise in area of specialty desirable. Current licensure or eligible as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or compact State. Current AHA BLS certification required.  ACLS for PCU/6A and ICU required or must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
