Under the direction of the Director, Dietary Supervisor, or team lead, assumes the role as a Cold/Prep Cook, planning and preparing cold food items for the patient and cafeteria line.   The Cold/Prep Cook provides items for patients with various types of diets.  He/She must be able to read a production sheet and scale recipe to fit.  Approximately 60% of the time is spent in this role.   40% is spent in other roles within food service, such as diet clerk, cashier, or cook.

Job Requirements

  1. High School Diploma preferred
  2. Current Serv-Safe Certification preferred
  3. Knowledge of and experience in fast-paced commercial kitchen preferred
  1. Effective Oral and written communication skills.
  2. Ability to utilize keyboard, computer, and various pieces of general office equipment
  3. Ability to follow oral/written instructions
  4. Ability to solve basic Math problems in breaking down recipes and portions. 
  5. Ability to work independently or as a team member to ensure quality of patient care
  6. Ability to prioritize work assignments during periods of stress and high patient volume
  7. Ability to stand for long periods of time
  8. Corrected hearing and visual acuity to read recipes, hear alarms, and communicate effectively. 
  9. Critical thinking, time management, and organizational skills
  10. Knowledge of sanitation in a food service environment.
