Under the supervision of an RN, performs telemetry monitoring.  Responsible for telemetry monitoring for 8-bed ICU and Medical/Surgical patients.  Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.  Will be responsible for relaying vital information to RN, Charge Nurse, and/or House Supervisor as necessary.  Prospective candidate will monitor patient status through assessment of ECG strips and arrhythmia interpretation. Must possess troubleshooting skills to recognize monitoring the problems, identify probable causes, and seek solutions to correct the problem. Candidate will identify and respond to potentially life-threatening rhythm changes, initiate codes, and record rhythms during code. Will provide continuous EKG monitoring with accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias and interval measurements. Must respond appropriately to all monitor alarms

Job Requirements

The successful candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent with one to three years of previous Nurse Aide experience or telemetry experience preferred.  Must have current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).  Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications preferred.
